The vise grip parts and the joint are made of Steel (ASTM-A36). The truss elements for the joint have a cross-sectional area of 1 square inch. fixed boundary conditions to the flat surfaces of the grips was applied. 20 lbf downward force at the end of the upper handle of the vise grips & 20 lbf upward force at the end of the lower handle of the vise grips was applied.
