This video illustrates the process for replacing Elephant Chain Block’s YA series ratchet lever hoist top hook assembly. It normally takes only 3 to 4 minutes to remove the nuts & lock washers on the gear side cover and take the cover off of the main plate. Carefully remove the cover along with the 2nd stage gear and remove the top load pin with needle nose pliers. After removing the pin, take the top hook off the lever hoist and replace it with the new hook. You then simply reverse the procedure and bolt everything back together, then load testing your hoist. The mechanic responsible for rebuilding these lever hoists will find our design much more friendly to repair. The average competition’s series lever hoist may take an experienced mechanic 40-45 minutes to replace the top hook. The reason why it takes this long is because the competition’s lever hoist has to be completely disassembled to install the top hook assembly. Using Elephant’s lever hoists will save the end users time and money on parts for the repairs.
