I’ve found a lot of people wondering how to remove metal staple type stitches at home, but the only answers out there seem to be that you need to use an official staple remover tool. This alternative method uses common tools from around the home. Mostly no-brainer, but:
1) Make sure the wound is fully knitted and there are no signs of infection.
2) Thoroughly sterilize tools and wound.
3) Carefully cut a staple in half using a quality pair or wire cutters then “roll” each staple half out of the skin using tweezers.
4) Only remove EVERY OTHER staple, then make sure the wound is not trying to re-open.
5) Repeat on the rest of the staples.
