A dovetail saw is made from a gent’s saw’s blade. The backing is 1/4″ x 3/4″ solid brass. The handle is made by sandwiching 1/2″ mahogany between 1/4″ basswood. The design of the handle is modified from a traditional Western dovetail saw design. The pattern is based on a geometric pattern found on The Great Mosque of Kairouan, Tunisia (c. AD 670, AH 50). The finish is an experimental shellac application technique that creates more depth and a micro texture on the handle to improve grip feel. Project #7
