In the fall of 2011 I was commissioned to paint a large scale painting, 3.5 by 8 feet. This video is documenting the painting process. Using Gamblin Artist (Oil) Colors and a linen canvas made by Twin Brooks Stretchers in Lincolnville, Maine, the canvas was already painted with a yellow/orange ground color over top of the pencil sketch. I am working from a scale oil study and go through the process of “locking in” the drawing with paint and then laying in the underpainting. By the end of the video, you’ll see most of painting blocked in and ready for several more layers of paint and fine tuning. Hats off to Mozart’s music as my audio inspiration and soundtrack. Enjoy!
Cheers,
