Early morning aweoweo action off Oahu, Hawaii. Used my new HMG Fenwick 6’6″ Fishing Rod with a lightweight Shimano Stradic CI4 reel with 6lb Trilene 6lb low viz green “soft cast” line using a customized Landon Yamamoto poured blue soft jig on 6lb Sakura fluorocarbon leader. Video was made using a Contour Roam 2 with a Contour side mount headband. Field testing my new Contour Roam, Fenwick Rod & Shimano Stradic CI4, and custom 2in soft jigs from Landon Yamamoto. Sorry for the darkness. I was fishing a mass migration of Aweoweo coming into shore from the outer reef around 5am. The one i hooked was 9in! Big for the species. I could see the eyes of 100′s more around it(starlight reflecting off the eyes). I kept releasing the others until i caught this one.
