Hey guys, welcome back to Knifehog.com! Addison here and today I’ll be reviewing the Leatherman Super Tool 300. Is this tool as “super” as its name suggests? Let’s find out!
With a total of 19 tools and an awarding winning design, the Leatherman Super Tool was definitely built for the working man. This tool has an overall closed length of 4.5″ and weighs 9.6 ounces, which makes it a little too heavy to be an EDC tool but definitely fits snugly on your belt loop or camping bag. This multi-tool contains a clip point, straight edge knife that is constructed of 420HC stainless steel and will allow you to slice effortless through twigs and thin metal wire. Along with this, there is also a Sheepsfoot serrated knife constructed of 420HC stainless steel, which is ideal for sawing through rope, thin wood and hard plastic. Two pairs of removable wire cutters, constructed of 154CM stainless steel, are also included in this multi-tool and are able to cut through thick and thin metal, as well as plastic and copper, wires. A few more tools worth mentioning are a metal file, a bottle opener, regular pliers, electrical crimper and a compact saw. A universal leather sheath comes included with this multi-tool.
Overall, the Leatherman Super Tool 300 is an effective multi-tool. A variety of tools made of high quality steel are present to aide you in just about any situation without the fear of breaking them prematurely. Although this is an effective tool, it does have a few drawbacks. One is that the pliers on this tool are unevenly shaped, which could be a safety as well as a utility issue. Another is that the handles on this tool are a bit loose when closed, which could allow the tool to easily open in your pocket or sheath. Another is that the universal sheath is a bit wide and lacks the ability to store the tool firmly in place. And lastly, although this tool is small in size, it is a bit too heavy to carry around in your pocket and can only really be clipped onto your belt or a pack.
We here at Knifehog give this multi-tool 3 out of 5 stars.
