Impact Wrench Comparison – Removing crank pulley bolt from a Honda Civic VX

When I was changing my timing belt and water pump, I got hung up on my crank pulley bolt. I have 5 impact wrenches and I thought it would be a good idea to compare some of the impact wrenches I have:

* Sears Craftsman C3 1/2 in 19.2 volt Impact wrench with a full lithium ion battery pack (200ft/lb max) – #17090
* Sears Craftsman 1/2 in air impact wrench (400ft/lb max) – #19983
* Harbor Freight’s Central Pneumatic Heavy Duty 3/4 in air impact wrench (1000ft/lb max) – #66984

I also have the following, but did not test:
* Sears Craftsman 1/2 in air impact wrench (450 ft/lb max)
* Allied 1/2 in air impact wrench (this wrench probably puts out less than 200 ft/lb max)
* Harbor Freight 1 in air impact wrench (1400-1600ft/lb max)

I didn’t test the latter three because the first two were locked up in my tool chest and the last one is in a box somewhere in the garage (we just moved and have alot of unpacking to do).

My favorite impact wrench is the 19.2 volt C3 tool. I have over 35 C3 tools and have them mainly for convenience when an outlet is no available or inconvenient.

BTW, I do have impact sockets and I know someone is going to bring up the fact that I’m not using the right sockets. They’re locked up with the other impact wrenches I have.
