Today we are going to demonstrate how to use Excelta’s 907-89B Dog Leg Forming Tool.
This unique custom made tool is designed to create a dog-leg stress relief form in the lead of a component for through hole and surface mount applications.
To use the tool:
• Place it in your hands like so…
• With the lead in your other hand, position it so the tip is against the meniscus or body of the component.
• If you are increasing the lead, the stand off goes on the outside like so.
• If you are decreasing the lead, the stand off goes on the inside.
• Press lightly together and the offset is formed with an increases or decreased spacing by .050″ and the second bend at .075″ from the body.
If you are interested in form and cut you might be interested in Excelta’s 907-89. The 907-89 is a tool that provides the same bend dimensions as the 907-89B, but also includes a cutting feature to provide a .140″ lead length after the stress relief.
