Sometimes you have to put some heat on the lower unit in addition to PB Blaster. Remember that acetylene is too hot! A decent propane torch is more than adequate. The lower unit is made out of aluminum. You don’t want to melt your gear casing!

Remember, once you put a lot of heat to your gearcase it WILL damage the rubber seals. So, if you start the job, you need to finish it.
