How to protect a round bale of hay using livestock fence panels. We raise dairy goats here at Alderman Farms, and goats love to climb and be up high. Usually that’s not a problem, but we recently had to separate our buck from the does as the does are due to kid any time now and we didn’t want him to pester them. So we put the buck with our Jersey cow “Honey Bee” and our Jersey calf, “Star,” which meant the buck had access to the round bale of hay we just put out for the cows a few days ago. First thing, up he went, and the bale suffered a little damage almost immediately.
But a close friend suggested using livestock fence panels, which we had on hand, to secure the bale. In this video we show you how we did that.
