How To Effortlessly Pull Stubborn Nails | Homestead Kids

How to effortlessly pull stubborn nails with simple hand tools almost every homestead already has. Recycling and re-purposing lumber and wood while homesteading is a very common and useful way to save money on construction projects. When you recycle lumber, most boards are going to have some nails that need to be pulled before they board can be used for the next project. A simple hammer, whether it’s a finish hammer or a framing hammer can be used to pull most nails. Sometimes a nail will be really stubborn and there are some techniques you can use to pull a stubborn nail. One way is to pull the nail by pulling your framing hammer sideways rather than the normal direction. This gives far greater leverage to pull the nail. For a small cost, you can buy a set of end nippers or nail nippers similar to a pair of pliers, which can be used to grab the nail and roll the nippers back and pull the nail. One more way that is effective is to use a framing hammer and place a block of wood under the head of the hammer to give added height to the hammer and better leverage. Some good brands of nail nippers are the Channellock nail nippers and the inexpensive Harbor Freight nail nippers. Some good framing hammers are the Stanley, Estwing, Vaughan, Stiletto Tools, Inc, and Dalluge. These are all good hammers.
