How to convert a bike from a 6 speed freewheel to a 7 speed freewheel. This is a vintage Lotus road bike (made in Japan). It was a 12 speed (2×6). I converted it to be a 14 speed bike (2×7). I upgraded it with a 7 speed freewheel and 7 speed SIS downtube shifters. The rear derailleur was already SIS compatible. And the chain had been recently replaced, and it was 7 speed speed compatible. This is a pretty easy upgrade.
