Gunsmithing – How to Install a Grip Cap on a Rifle Stock Presented by Larry Potterfield of MidwayUSA

In this GunTec presentation Larry Potterfield, CEO and Founder of MidwayUSA, demonstrates the process for installing a grip cap on a Winchester model 67. He starts by securing the stock in a vise and leveling the grip area using a level and a straight edge. The bottom of the grip is then filed level using a smooth file. Larry then locates the position of the screw hole of the grip cap and after center punching it, drills the hole. The legs of the grip cap are then measured, marked on the grip, and inletted using some wood chisels. All that’s left is to screw the grip cap into place and the stock is ready to be shaped.
