Hey guys, welcome back to KnifeHog.com! Addison here and today I’ll be reviewing the Gerber Diesel Multi Plier.
With it being Gerber’s contribution to the one handed tool market, the Diesel Multi Plier seems like the ideal multi tool. The Gerber Diesel has an overall length of 6.61”, a closed length of 4.92” and weighs 8.6 ounces, which makes it a bit too heavy to be considered an EDC tool but it’ll definitely get the job done. The Gerber Diesel is equipped with 14 tools that can all be opened with one hand. To name a few there is a partially serrated knife, saw, needle nose pliers, bottle opener, standard and phillips screwdrivers, a pair of scissors and a wire cutter. A black nylon carrying case comes included with this multi tool.
Overall, the Gerber Diesel is an effective multi tool. Its hefty size and tools make this tool seem like it has it all, but does come with a few drawbacks. One major drawback is that the “bigger and stronger” tools Gerber says the Diesel has are all packaged with plastic locks. This makes every tool in this construction capable of breaking or snapping during use. Another drawback I would say the Diesel has is the fact that, like most multi tools, all of the tools in its construction are held on the inside and are a bit difficult to deploy with just one hand.
We here at KnifeHog give this knife 3.5 out of 5 stars.
