The Bandtail Goatfish (Upeneus arge) has long been linked to producing non-fatal reactions of “Nightmares” for those who have eaten it. Also known as Weke Pueo. It’s said if you eat the head (specifically the brains for you zombie lovers out there) that you will suffer from extreme nightmares. I’ve eaten this delicious species pan fried for years with no ill effect. This 11incher is large for the species. Also one of the more colorful reef species out there. For it’s size a great light-tackle fighter. Caught this in a sand surge channel between reefs.
