This is a front diff seal replacement performed on a 2010 Subaru Impreza. Although your vehicle may differ, this video is a general guide on what’s involved and how to get the job done.
Tools Used:
Safety glasses
19mm Socket
Ratchet – 1/4 , 3/8 and 1/2″ with Extensions
Flat head screwdriver
32mm Socket (for axle nut)
1/2″ breaker bar
1/2″ torque wrench
T70 bit
3-pound hammer
12mm, 14mm & 17mm socket and wrenches
WD40 / Pb Blaster
3/16 and 1/4″ Socket
8mm machine bolts (remove rotor)
Wire brush – helpful
Pliers
10mm socket
Seal removal tool
Bungee cords / zip ties
New cotter pin
Nail setter or paint
Crowbar or long thick screwdriver
Diff fluid (75w-90 in this case)
A buddy – helpful
Diff oil seal protector tool (rubber) – Part 28399SA010
Diff oil seal installation tool (metal) – 18675AA000
