Building a Low Woodworking Bench

Since I don’t have the proper space to fit a normal size and steady workbench to do even small chiseling and planing tasks, I came up with this tiny bench that can be fitted on any table, clamped or even work on the floor similar to japanese planing boards.

The top is 600 x 300 x 55 mm (24″x12″x2″), made out of two ~30 mm thick laminated beech boards found in the local hardware stores. For a cool design I added two mahogany side edges jointed with mortise and tenons, and some butterfly inlays from an exotic wood.

The vice is the smaller type I could find, 150 mm (6″), on which I drilled 20 mm holes for a benchdogs clamping system.
