Automatic Manipulation of Cells Inside Microfluidic Chamber Assisted by Optical Tweezers

Microfluidic devices are well suited for the study of biological objects because of their high throughput. However, the cell manipulation process solely depends on the fluid flow and hence precise position control is difficult to attain inside a microfluidic chamber. Utilizing optical tweezers as a complementary tool provides precise position control. Manual cell manipulation is difficult and time consuming. Hence, we developed an automatic cell manipulation method which can handle multiple cells simultaneously to expedite the cell manipulation.
