Whether you’re a young professional moving into your first apartment, or a retiree in a condo, you need a basic set of hand tools. These include: a hammer (16 oz.): Phillips and flat-head screwdrivers, including a small set; adjustable wrench, or better yet, rachet/socket set; adjustable or regular pliers, and needlenose pliers; and a wire cutting tool, either wire strippers or tin snips.
In addition, you might want to pick up an Allen/hex key set, even though most appliances/devices or products that use Allen bolts come with the key. You can always buy these individually as needed.
Quality 4-in-1 screwdrivers are a great value. So are Leatherman tools, but they are expensive. What you pay for a large Leatherman will buy you a decided tool set, new, or collected from yard sales, etc.
