In this episode I delve deeper than I’ve ever been, changing the Timing Chain on a Nissan Almera, totally new car to me and the most complex task I’ve ever undertaken. Here I detail stripping down the engine ready to replace the chain!
Tech Specs: 2000 MY Nissan Almera N16 with QG15DE (89BHP) non-VVT engine
Tools Used:
- 10mm 12mm 14mm sockets on a 3/8 Drive Ratchet for most fixings
- 10 mm Spanner for Oil Pickup fixings
- 3/8 Universal Joint adapter for awkward angles
- 22mm Socket on 1/2 Breaker for Camshaft Bolts
- 22mm Spanner to hold camshafts
- Flathead screwdrivers to lever off the chain housing/remove sump
- Philips head screwdriver to remove Cam Cover screws
- Pliers to remove hose clamps
- *I think* 24mm socket on 1/2 Drive Breaker to remove Crank Pulley bolt
- OEM jack and wheel nut wrench
- Axlestand
