Do you have a DIY project or repair that you need to make? Our 3.5mm TRRS connector will provide an inexpensive solution for creating a three channel audio cable.

A TRRS connector can be identified by three black plastic bands near the tip of the cable. 3.5mm refers to the diameter of the plug. It is the most common size plug for small electronic devices such as headphones.

This connector contains an all metal plug and soldering points.

To install the connector, you will need: A soldering iron, solder, a wire stripper and cable. Since this is a TRRS connector, our cable will need three center conductors and a shield.

Unscrew the strain relief and slide it onto the audio cable. Using a cable stripper, strip back the cable jacket. Twist the shield together. Strip the jacket around the center conductor. Tin the center conductor and shield by adding solder to the ends of each wire. Tinning helps makes a more lasting and professional bond.

Take the connector and with a vice or helping hands, tin the solder points on the connector.

The sleeve is the longest piece of metal, coming out of the back of the connector. If you are unsure of which solder point corresponds to the tip or sleeve, you can use a multimeter to check continuity.

Solder the tinned shield to the sleeve and the center conductor to the tip. Using pliers, pinch the strain relief onto the outside jacket. Slide up the strain relief and tighten onto the connector.

Congratulations, you have successfully soldered the 3.5mm connector.

Learn how to save thousands of dollars on your family’s cellphone bill. Everybody wants a smartphone, but the cost is often so high. This tutorial will teach you simple easy steps to help your family save money on their cellphone bill. The strategy also works for individuals as well. These strategies saved me lots of money. Maybe they’ll work for you as well.

Have you ever wondered how homeless people and people in third world countries can afford smartphones? They’ve got a smartphone. You’ve got a smartphone. They obviously can’t afford huge smartphone bills. Statistically, many Americans have trouble paying for smartphones and smartphone services. It’s often difficult to watch YouTube when the data is so expensive. There’s got to be a way to have an affordable smartphone.

This strategy is designed for certain types of users. It’s designed primarily for people living in the first world, the rich developed countries where everything is really expensive and costs a lot. I live in North America. Cellphone services are often quite expensive in Canada and the United States.

If you are living in these parts of the world, you’re basically stuck with expensive rates. If you understand the system, you can save lots of money. Here’s the basic strategy. I get the cheapest phone and the best plan, and they I use data combined with communications apps and other techniques to avoid really expensive cellphone company services. It’s a little bit complicated, but most people can easily learn to do this. Many people can save big money over time or afford the smartphone in the first place.

    1. Buy a used, unlocked smartphone (big savings, the phone costs 1/3 of the cost of a new smartphone and it works with any cellphone carrier)
    2. Put the phone in a shockproof case. Now the smartphone won’t break when you drop it, and the product will last much longer. Otherwise, ooops, I lose $800 USD when the smartphone falls, cracks and breaks.
    3. Get a no contract, Pre-Paid or Pay As You Go Plan. Only pay for services you use. If you don’t like them, switch. With individual, family and group plans (the latter two are often the most expensive) people pay for lots of services they don’t use. This can get expensive.
    4. One of the key uses of the cellphone plan is to get data. The reason is data allows you to allow you to get on the internet and use free communications apps to avoid using expensive cellphone company services like talking, texting, roaming, etcetera. If you can get it for free on the internet, why pay the cellphone company big money for this service? Texting is a particularly bad deal, $0.25 USD per text when the text fits in the header of handset to cellphone tower communications and uses virtually no bandwidth. It should be almost free. Make it free by using a free communications app. Remember, texting uses virtually no data, VoIP (talking over internet) uses a little bit, and video uses tons of data. Regular web pages generally use a little bit of data, unless there`s video.
    5. Only use cellphone company texting and talking when absolutely necessary. If texting is super cheap, like $10.00 per month for thousands of texts, that’s an O.K. deal. Otherwise use a free texting app. Alternatively, use a regular text to tell your friend to turn on the data and get on a free communications app, and then continue your conversation for free using this app.
    6. Set up a broadband Wi-Fi zone in your house. This is like wholesale, super cheap cellphone data. As soon as you are in Wi-Fi zone, shut of the cellphone data and use Wi-Fi. Do your heavy data use in the Wi-Fi zone, where data is super cheap, like streaming videos and video chat.
    7. When you travel to a different country, get a sim card from that country as quickly as possible. This saves super expensive roaming charges.
    8. If traveling and you have no good cellphone plan, put the smartphone in flight mode or take out the sim card. This avoids highly expensive roaming charges. Go to Starbucks or McDonald’s, buy a cheap coffee, drink it slowly and get 3 hours of free cellphone data (the store’s customer Wi-Fi)
    9. Use your friend’s favorite communications app to contact them. You’ll get through fast.

    Thanks for watching.
