If your Heater, AC Blower Motor behind your dash has become noisy, squealing or whistling, it’s time to replace it. Dust will affect the bearing surfaces and eventually your blower motor will make strange noises.

This video shows you a step by step removal and replacement of the blower motor in a 2004 BMW 330i Sedan. This procedure is essentially the same for all e46 BMW 3 Series 1999-2005.

Always install a NEW OE replacement Behr or Bosch unit, this is your safest bet because it’s a 2-3 hour job and you don’t want to go back in to replace a cheaper unit like an ACM. I sourced mine from eBay Motors from a seller named DiscountACParts in California. You can also source a Behr unit from AutoHausAZ.

Note: if your blower motor stops working before you hear whistling or squealing, it might be the Resistor or a fuse that’s gone bad. Check those first before tackling this job.

Tools to do the job are regular metric sockets, Torx sockets, screwdrivers, long nose pliers, some tape, and good lighting.
