  • Uncle Eddie here again! Sorry for the delayed upload! I usually like to get a video out at least on Sunday and on Thursday. But we have been having some pretty crazy tropical storms blowing through Southern California since Saturday and it really has been messing with the internet signal. But anyways, the video is here!

Today’s tip we will talk about what are the absolute BASIC tools that you should have around the house. Whether you are a novice when it comes to tools, or you recently just bought your friend home (apartment, condo, house, etc), or if you’re just curious about what you should have, this is the video for you!

Now, these tools that I mention in the video aren’t ALL the tools that you should have alone. And other tool experts might tell you different opinions. BUT, in my own personal opinion, this is a list of all the basic household tools you should keep around.

    Flat head/Phillips head screw drivers
    Channel lock pliers
    Locking pliers
    Standard slip joint pliers
    Utility knife
    Permanent Markers
    Carpenters pencils and sharpener
    Adjustable wrench
    Tape measure
    Stud finder
    Claw hammer
    Pipe wrench
    Clamps
    Level
    Allen screw set
    Wood glue
    Gloves
    Mask
    Eye protection
    Screws/Nails

Like I said, these tools in my opinion are the bare minimum that you should have around the home. I’m not being endorsed by any of these companies or tool brands or anything. I just wanted to come on here and share with you my opinions and maybe give you some insight to what to have on hand. If you have any questions on what any of these tools are or if you have some input about what are your basic home tools, leave them all in the comments section below and I will get back to you!

Find out more about this awesome multitool here!: https://amzn.to/1lLBfou

The Leatherman Rebar is a multitool that is worth its weight in gold. After having used this multitool for quite some time now, I can honestly say that you won’t soon find me without it as part of my EDC. I have used it for almost all of its intended purposes (and some others not intended), and the thing has held up quite nicely. It is a very well-made mid-priced multitool.

Here’s what the manufacturer has to say about it….
“With the Rebar, fans will immediately recognise the iconic box-like body and sloped-neck design found in the Super Tool® 300 and Micra®. This favourite rounds out Leatherman’s classic “heritage” line of products by offering one in each size category. Just like the Super Tool 300, the Rebar pliers have been optimized for strength and feature replaceable wire/hard-wire cutters – a first for a four-inch tool from Leatherman. With all the features to get even the toughest jobs done, in a smaller, slimmer size, the new Rebar is sure to be an instant hit on job sites, and home-projects the world over.”

Here are the specs from the manufacturer:
    Tools:
    Needlenose Pliers
    Regular Pliers
    154CM Replaceable Wire Cutters
    154CM Replaceable Hard-wire Cutters
    Electrical Crimper
    420HC Knife
    420HC Serrated Knife
    Wood/Metal File
    Saw
    Small Screwdriver
    Large Screwdriver
    Phillips Screwdriver
    Awl w/Thread Loop
    Ruler (8 inches/20 cm)
    Bottle Opener
    Can Opener
    Wire Stripper
    Features:
    Lanyard Ring
    All Locking Features
***EDIT from me: Not entirely true. The lanyard ring does not lock, but that is not a big deal.
    Stainless Steel
    Black Oxide Version Available
    25-Year Warranty
    Leather or Nylon Sheath
    Measurements:
    4 in. | 10.16 cm (Closed)
