I was asked to remove the tire from a rim using manual hand tools. This was a good experience to have. I have worked in an automotive repair shop and changed tons of tires with machines and special tools but never by hand.
First you have to remove the tire valve with a valve remover tool. This lets the air out of the tire.
Next you have to unseat the tire from the rim. This is easier if you have some sort of a press like the homemade one shown in this video.
Break the seal on both sides of the tire.
Now you need a couple tire removal tools to get the tire off the rim. This can be a tough job depending on the size and stiffness of the tire you are working on.
Replacing the new tire on the rim goes just the same way as you take off the old tire. Using the tire removal tools you have to slip the new tire onto the rim.
If it is a larger tire then it is best to seat the tire on the rim before putting in the valve. Inflate the tire until the tire seats properly on the rim. Then you can insert the valve into the valve stem and inflate the tire to the proper PSI.

This is a video response to a request that came in on the forum. Just like any other delicate task, to do a high quality job, you need time, technique and the right tools to get the job done.
In this video I cover some techniques for crimping common micro connectors for a lot of components we use in FPV, like video systems, flight controllers and component to component connections.
Let me know if that was useful or if you’d like any other details on anything discussed in this episode.
